Yes Sir Boss Cancelled

Yes Sir Boss

Saturday 3rd November 2012, 6:30 pm

Yes Sir Boss have played with the likes of Toots & The Maytals, Babyhead, and Smerin’s Antisocial Club, performed in front of massive crowds at the UK’s most beloved festivals including Glastonbury, Bestival, Electric Picnic, Green Man and Shambala, earning them a reputation as one of Britain’s most dynamic new live bands. But the path these six musicians took to arrive in this moment of rollicking excitement and promise has been long and winding. It all began about four years ago when Sellors’ college trio disbanded. Looking for new collaborators, the singer and songwriter regrouped and recruited most of the players who now make up Yes Sir Boss.

Yes Sir Boss all come from incredibly varied backgrounds musically and if they followed any one members’ lead they could be any kind of band. They could make a funk album, or a punk rock album, or a Balkan-tinged folk record. But it’s the collision of all these varied sounds that creates the YSB magic you hear on this record. “We could have written a folk album or a rock album or a reggae album but we had to find the songs that had all of those elements,”  Sellors explains. “Our songs aren’t folk or rock or reggae, they’re just Yes Sir Boss.”

Yes Sir Boss play The Temple at the hmv Institute on 3rd November.
