‘So Good At Being In Trouble ’

Fuzzy, funky, freaky, fragile – there aren’t enough F-words for UMO. Compared to 2011’s self-titled debut, ‘II’ is a softer set of songs that investigates more sophisticated styles. ‘From The Sun’ starts out as Kurt Vile acoustica, before the soulful heartbreak of ‘So Good At Being In Trouble’ shows what a sensitive sort frontman Ruban Nielson really is. ‘No Need For A Leader’ is psyched-out and pacier, but then ‘Monki’ puts the handbrake back on and glides into a kind of drugged-up daydream. Far-out, fascinating, fantastic – just plain F-ing good.
