‘Out Of Touch In The Wild’ (Memphis Industries)
Dutch Uncles’ third album is easily the Manchester band’s most accomplished effort to date. ‘Out Of Touch In The Wild’ backs up the quintet’s brainy indie-lad posturing with a slew of living, breathing songs. ‘Flexxin’ is breezily confident, while ‘Godboy’ sounds like it’s been fighting with Foals over the Steve Reich student cookbook (though a couple of tracks horribly overcook recipes from the above). And ‘Bellio’’s fizzing synthpop recalls fellow Mancs Everything Everything with the zany dials turned down to a six or a seven. Top one, sorted, etc.
