The GallopsBroadcast are perhaps uniquely qualified to soundtrack a film inspired by musique concrete and 70s Italian horror. This sinister, skittering collection (recorded before the sad passing of singer Trish Keenan in 2011) is the perfect compliment to Peter Strickland’s marvellous film. From the woozy waltz of ‘The Equestrian Vortex’ to the fragile naivete of ‘The North Downs Dimension’, the granite-lined church organ threats of ‘Treatise’, or the trepanning tremolo assault of ‘Mark Of The Devil’, it’s one of those rare soundtracks that’s worth listening to completely out of context.
