After the majesterial ‘Have Some Faith In Magic’, it’s easy to see this Glasgow quartet’s second album of 2012 as little more than an accompaniment. There are certainly thematic similarities; not least the excitable wonderment conjured up by the ripples of glittering synth and stately beats. But whereas ‘…Magic’ veered off on dramatic prog tangents, ‘New Relics’ glides by casually and blissfully, with the miasmic awe of ‘Ammaboa Glass’ drifting sumptuously into ‘Hemlock’s post-electro reverie. Errors have never sounded more magnificent.
