Not many 19 year olds get flown to Nashville to record their debut album, but Fantasy Rainbow (aka Manchester based teen Oliver Catt) proves himself worthy of the opportunity, returning with an impressive first LP in his suitcase. Tightly wound with the anxieties that accompany coming of age, it’s a record that’s youthfully bright but tinted with sadness. Opening with the bold hit of ‘Soda Scream’, ‘Bos Taurus’ flows through dreaming of a better life (‘Golf World’), falling in love (‘O Weirdo’) and the subsequent heartbreak (‘Ez Coast’), all the while exuding a self-conscious charm that makes Fantasy Rainbow utterly endearing.
