‘Happy To You’ (Columbia)
An experiment that’s been monumentally successful so far, Miike Snow’s new challenge is to continue those triumphs with the world watching. But just how to follow-up an album that was so immediate and so bright? ‘Happy To You’ is not the answer many would have chosen. A coy, slow burner, it doesn’t kick off properly until its latter stages, leaving the house piano of ‘Pretender’, soaringly fun ‘Archipelago’ and the bouncing, infectious ‘Paddling Out’ to do all the graft. Though that trio edge nearer to the evolution we’d have wanted, in truth, it’s all just ii little, ii late.
