Part of Canada’s current crop of hot new bands, Devon Welsh aka Majical Cloudz might count noisy eccentrics Grimes and Doldrums amongst his friends but his own music is far more poignant than his pals’. On ‘What That Was‘, his silvery croon glides elegantly over unobtrusive and crisp synth swathes, a refined, steady take on friendship, freedom and partying ’til dawn.
