WIN: Berberian Sound Studio Goodies

By JJ Dunning 21 Nov 2012

Berberian Sound Studio (“a rumbling thunderclap of genius” according to The Telegraph) is set to arrive on DVD, Blu-ray and VOD from Artificial Eye on 31st December.

As the title suggests, the film is set in the confines of a sound studio. It is accompanied by an album from left-field legends Broadcast. Both are out through Warp on January 7th. To celebrate the releases, we have a copy of the film, the Broadcast album, and a theatrical quad poster to give away.

Peter Strickland’s brilliantly original and hugely acclaimed homage to 1970′s Italian horror is undoubtedly one of 2012′s must-see films. Following the work of sound-engineer Gilderoy (Toby Jones), who has become unhealthily involved in his latest assignment, Berberian Sound Studio blurs the line between fantasy and reality and is a shocking and haunting presentation of life imitating art.

Time Out said of the film that the “stylistically ambitious, morally radical, thematically complex work… deserves the highest praise”. This turns out to also be an apt description of the film’s sublime soundtrack, composed by Broadcast (aka Trish Keenan and James Cargill), before Trish’s untimely passing last year.
