Veronica Falls: Mixtape
We all know what former Fly cover stars Veronica Falls’ music sounds like. But have you ever wondered what music they listen to? If not then click here. If so then see their mixtape below:
Here’s what James from the band has to say about each song:
1. The Bachs – ‘Tables Of Grass Fields’
Unknown in its day, this is now a cult classic. Chicago’s Bach’s released one record with only 150 pressed. An original is expensive.
2. Quicksilver Messenger Service – ‘Dino’s Song’
Sometimes seen as a joke but they have some great songs. This one written (but not performed) by founding member Dino Vanenti. He was off serving time for marijuana possession.
3. Richard Lloyd – ‘Misty Eyes’
Lloyd is by far the coolest member of Television.
4. The Smoke ‘October Country’
This is Michael Lloyd’s solo project, the producer, songwriter and member of the West Coast pop art experimental band. All round cool dude.
5. October Country – ‘My Girlfriend Is A Witch’
Michael Lloyd masterminded group which he wrote and produced the songs for. He also overdubbed himself playing most of the instruments.
6. The Laughing Wind – ‘John Works Hard’
This is also Michael Lloyd with the Harris brothers of the West Coast pop art experimental band. It sounds like they’ve been listening to The Beatles ‘I Feel Fine’ a lot.
7. Kim Fowley -’Visions Of Motorcycles’
Cool track from Fowley.
8. Jan And Lorraine – ‘Number 33′
Late 60′s folk duo. I’m not sure if they actually got a bunch of 6 year old’s in the studio for this or just took loads of drugs, either way it sounds pretty wild
9. J.J Light – ‘Heya’
A Native American Lou Reed.
10. Tony Caro And John – ‘Swirling Sphere’
English folk trio, mastering that early music sound very well.
11. The High Society – ‘Tell Me Now’
Upbeat pop, psych.
12. The Zombies – ‘A Rose For Emily’
[James didn't write anything about this song. Perhaps you should just listen to it.]
