Here are the first album reviews on ‘Think Bigger’. The single has been played 7 times by Huw Stephens on Radio 1 in the last week and we are still picking up plays on BBC6 and xfm.

Q   ****
“Going large: third album from Devon’s answer to Beck”

MOJO   ****
“It’s the originality and daring of Cosmo’s lyrics that distance him from the identikit singer-songwriter hoards”

INDEPENDENT  ****
“An engaging blend of scepticism and enthusiasm”

CLASSIC ROCK  ***
“A sharp refining of his dark and comic visions; Jarvis’s knack for melodic candy and affecting musical mash-ups is still abundant”

“ I reckon the new album by Cosmo Jarvis could be one of the albums of the year. It sounds fantastic. It really is such a varied piece of work but somehow he brings it all together and it works brilliant” – John Kennedy (XFM Exposure July 2011)

“I believe him to be one of the most potentially important and fascinating new artists around at the moment.” – Angus Beatty (The Guardian)

“You’ve got to go with the whole Cosmo Jarvis trip, find the bits you like out of it. He puts a lot of stuff out there so take what you want from it” – Alex Petridis (Music journalist)

“He’s a really interesting and exciting prospect – with the skill to make the weird seem so accessible” – Rosie Swash (The Guardian)

“Cosmo Jarvis is a very interesting example to me of a new kind of person; a new kind of artist”; “A one in a million artist” – Brian Eno (BBC6 Music)

“Wonderful, I’d love it even if it weren’t about Pirates!”-  Stephen Fry

“It’s vivid, violent and the most tragically moving love song we’ve heard all year” (Gay Pirates) – Dan Martin, (NME)

“The Gay Pirates video is absolutely bloody brilliant!”-  John Lloyd (Director, 9 BAFTAS 2011)

“Inarguably gifted he makes films as well as writing, playing and brilliantly engineering his inventive music. A fab new talent with imagination overload” – James McNair (Mojo)

‘My Friend Marx’ is Marc O’Reilly’s debut album; it’s already created a stir in his native Ireland. We think Marc is destined to ride the new wave of Irish international breakthrough artists in the acoustic genre. Marc is now touring his album, which is scheduled for UK release on August 6th.

‘A stunning set of tunes’– R2 Magazine

‘Sensational, Irish music has a new star’ – Roots & Fusion

Marc’s sound is inspired folk ‘n’ blues with African percussive rhythms. It’s right there between old American folk-blues & The Black keys ~ Andy McKee & Tom Waits. As a live performer he already has an intense and spellbinding reputation, as a songwriter he stands out as unique and moving talent and as a voice he is both urgent and persuasive in the same breath. At the end of it all Marc is a contender.

Age restrictions - shows are 14+, under 16s must be accompanied by an adult, proof of age upon request regardless of advance ticket purchase.
