Ladies Of The Canyon

Musicians and songwriters Maia Davies (vocals, guitars, mandolin, keyboards), Senja Sargeant (vocals, guitars, mandolin), Jasmine Bleile (vocals, guitars) and Anna Ruddick (electric and upright bass, vocals) have their distinct tone and personality, but when they come together for harmonies, it’s a gorgeous, soaring blend.   Their debut full-length album, Haunted Woman (Kindling / Warner Music Canada) was produced by Colin Cripps.   Through his production work, Cripps has deftly showcased the wide range Ladies of the Canyon confidently explore; both as songwriters and vocalists.  The next year and a half was filled with criss-crossing Canada, showcases in Nashville and Los Angeles and a Canadian Country Music Nominee for Best New Artist.   Lately, the Ladies  have been busy writing for the soon to be recorded second album.  With 30 songs penned and Mark Howard (Lucinda Williams, Vic Chestnut, Chris Whitley) scheduled to produce you might say there is a gem in the making.

Christof

Hailing from the lowlands of Holland, was in his early life inspired by his classical singing mother and guitar picking/singing father. Soon he was humming along to Mozart in the back of the car at the age of 5.  In October 2007, Christof was lured by the bohemian bright lights and the smoky winding cobble-stoned late nights of Galway, in the west of Ireland. He remained in Galway for 4 years, learning all the tricks and trades as a troubadour, starting off busking and working his way up the ladder. The lyricality of his songs and his voice, abundant in strength and sensitivity, charmed the hearts of all who heard him busking, and he quickly became a popular performer in venues around the city.
December 2009 saw him recording an EP with the legendary bass player Trevor Hutchinson (The Waterboys and Eric Bibb) who also produced the EP. The ultra dynamic and tight drummer Dave Hingerty (Josh Ritter, Frames and the Swell Season) joined Christof during the recording of his debut EP “Springtime”. He launched the EP with the Staves from London.  In 2010 he was touring with an Irish band called “Grada”, taking him to England, Germany and Denmark. Some flying visits were made to London to support Matthew and the Atlas, Fred and Joel Plaskett.
In 2011 he supported the great Tim O’Brien on his New Zealand and Australian tour.
Christof just released his second EP called “Honey Tears” and recently toured with up and coming band The Staves on their latest uk/Eire tour.
